IMBY Code of Conduct

By joining our membership, engaging with us on social media, coming to an event, or engaging with our community in any manner, you are agreeing to abide by our code of conduct.

Progress over perfection

We strive to always be evolving, improving, and deepening our connections and understanding. We hold each other accountable while encouraging growth, respectful conversations, and learning.

Humanity First

We do not equate worthiness to production. We place the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing and safety of our stakeholders first— even if that means needing to change our schedule or make some quick adjustments.

A brave space vs. a safe space

We focus on creating a brave space that allows for vulnerability and exploring our edges of growth while allowing for accountability and compassion along the way. We treat each other with respect, compassion, and assume positive intent.

Confidentiality

This space is confidential. Everything said in an IMBY session, in our community forum, or otherwise should not leave the group without explicit consent.

Consent

If you want to share something someone said in the group, or want to offer advice when it's not directly requested, always seek consent first.

Consent also applies to not forcing you to turn on your camera in Zoom and getting your consent before sending you to a breakout room.

Respect Identities

Please be sure to include your pronouns with your name while on Zoom and in our community forum, if you are comfortable doing so.

Anti-racism, and Anti-oppression

We strictly uphold these commitments. We reserve the right to remove anyone from the group challenging the safety of the space or members.

Restorative Justice

We seek to ensure that all members of the community have their voices heard, which is especially important if/when conflict arises. Our policy will be to utilize a restorative justice approach that brings stakeholders to the table with the goal of repairing harm when possible, bringing in an outside facilitator when helpful and/or necessary.

Feedback

We take feedback seriously. If you feel unsafe in our space, if there are ways we can improve, or there are ways we can be more just, equitable, and inclusive, we want to hear from you, if you feel safe to do so, so we can improve. We offer multiple feedback avenues within the membership, and you can reach out to use directly if you are not a member.
